Homework

     Homework

Please see the tab Remote Learning Provision for information on support for pupils have time at home due to isolation or public health requesting the school change to remote learning for some pupils due to an outbreak.

Homework has to be very individual to the pupils who attend The Bridge.   We agree what homework would be appropriate at the two regular meetings we hold with you as parents/carers in school when we hold the annual review and the Outcomes review  meetings.  Each annual outcomes document has a box  at the bottom with what home work would be appropriate.

Homework can be a whole range of things.  It will vary for each child and is likely to change as a pupil gets older, develops or if their needs and priorities change.  For example, it may include:

  • home and school working on consistent strategies for behaviour following an agreed behaviour support plan.
  • using particular symbols, signs or objects or words to support your child's understanding and communication.
  • using a particular communication aid or system at home that has been advised by therapists.
  • family and school using consistent strategies to support a child needing sensory information.
  • having a regular book or of work home to complete at home.
  • working on a toileting, dressing or eating/drinking programme.

The types of homework we do are very varied for each child.  Our policy is underpinned by the belief that we want to support and work with you to help your child achieve the very best they can.

Each pupil will have a Home Work Pack linked to their EHCP annual outcomes.

Please bring it up with your teacher if you want more support or guidance in this area and if also use the opportunities at the annual review and outcomes review meetings to discuss further.
