Intensive interaction is an approach to teach the pre-speech fundamentals of communication to children and adults who have severe and profound learning difficulties and/or autism and who are at an early stage of communication development. It is used to create rewarding communication experiences for learners where the individuals vocalisations or behaviours are mirrored by their communicative partner. It is used to gain attention and build up on interactions overtime.
